Iota Sigma Pi is the national honor society for women in chemistry that promotes professional development and personal growth of women in chemistry through recognition, public outreach, and formation of supportive networks. The local chapter in the Bay Area is the Hydrogen Chapter, made up of largely graduate students at the University of California – Berkeley. We are hosting the 31st Iota Sigma Pi National Triennial Convention on June 19th – 22nd at the Courtyard Marriott in Emeryville, CA for delegates of all the local chapters around the country to review and discuss chapter activities. Our theme for the convention, “Green is the New Black” reflects the energy research hub present in the Bay Area.

We are sponsoring a poster session and reception on Thursday evening, 7 PM on June 19th, to kick-off the convention with funding from the ACS Innovative Project Grant. The sponsorship by the ACS California section and Women Chemists Committee strengthens the network for women chemists and shows the collaborative relationship fostering locally in the Bay Area. We are delighted to have the WCC present a poster about their activities and invite members of the WCC to come to the opening night poster session and mixer to learn about programs as well as share their experiences.
